Desiccant Packets

Poly Lam supplies the highest quality gram size packets in sizes ranging from 
1/8 gram to 14 grams.  All packets come in a choice of exterior packaging 
materials of Tyvek® or GDTII, and  sorbent blends of Silica Gel, Activated Clay, 
Molecular Sieve, Activated Carbon, or combination blends such as 
Carbon/Silica Gel and Carbon/Activated clay.

Benefits of a small desiccant packet is LARGE

Low profile gram size packets allow a maximum level of desiccation in a confined 
area.   These non dusting pharmaceutical grade packet desiccants are ideal for:

Desiccant Canisters

Desiccant canisters are specifically designed for use in automated packaging 
systems.   They are easily machine fed into pill bottles, small bags and specialized 
barrier containers where packet style desiccants would be less advantageous

Canisters are available in a limited range of gram weights from .4 grams to 3 grams.   
Desiccant mediums available are: silica gel, activated clay, molecular sieve, carbon, 
and various combinations of these.

Desiccant Unit Bags

Poly Lam Products supplies a wide range of Sud Chemie and Multisorb Unit bag desiccants, which is sized from 1/6 unit to 80 units. 

Through a unique relationship with our manufacturing partners, Poly Lam is able 
to offer a full compliment of Type I, Type II, and Type III MIL-D-3464 desiccant 
bags, as well as our standard industrial grade products.

Advantages we offer:

Poly Lam supplies unit size desiccant bags in Tyvek®, Kraft      (crepe), and 
Lantuck, which can be supplied in heat sealed and string sewn styles.  
Unit bags are available in silica gel, activated clay, molecular sieve, and 
specialty chemistries designed for unique applications such as: Carbon for 
odor reduction or combination desiccants specific for the reduction of moisture 
with in an overseas shipping container or an over the road freight vehicle.

Desiccants Explained

Activated Clay (Montmorillonite)

Activated Clay desiccant is a low-cost efficient desiccant which is mined, 
ground, processed and packaged.  It is naturally occurring and non-hazardous.   
Clay is advantageous in that it can take on and release water repeatedly with 
out substantial deterioration or swelling.  

Silica Gel Desiccant

Manufactured from sodium silicate and sulfuric acid, silica gel is a non hazardous 
hard porous form amphorus silica.  Through its large number of microscopic pores, 
silica gel can adsorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture and has the highest 
absorption capacity of any commercially used desiccant.

Molecular Sieve Desiccant

          Molecular Sieve is a manufactured form of crystalline Zeolite (Sodium alumino silicate).  
          It is comprised of a group of uniform size holes and an empty adsorptive interior 
          which has an enormous capacity for water.  Molecular sieve is the most aggressive 
          and expensive commercially used desiccant.
